The way to a Manglorean’s heart can only be coastal cuisine. In my pursuit to eat Mangalore food, I am always on hunt to find good Mangalorean restaurants. Introducing Kubay, the home-style Coastal cuisine.

The restaurant is on the busy street of 6th block, 6th cross Koramangala.Theres lot of buzz around the series of food joints you would notice on this street. Between all this, Kubay is a quite, dimly lit restaurant, very homely and simple ,waiting to get your attention.

The menu has a variety of typical Mangalore beverages, starters, soups, accompaniments with Main course and desserts. The all time favorites have been cocum juice, an absolute substitute for good wine. The yummy Crab flesh soup is one of the best in the soup menu. Mushroom Sukka could perhaps be a vegetarian’s choice and crab fry or fish masala fry has been my favorite. The menu consists of all variety of seafood fish, prawns, squids, mussels. You can also choose your live crabs to be cooked the way you would like them the best. Pork is also available. In the main course you could variety rice or Sannas, Panpole, idiappam or Korri rotti along with non-veg or veg gravy. Vegetarians must try Neer Dosa and veg gravy.

The mouth watering traditional Pullimanchi is also available on the menu. For the dessert homemade caramel custard seems to the best options.Thats like a short brief on Kubay, but it's best when you experience the luring taste of the coast!!!

Casa Piccola

If you are a fan of European cuisine, especially a lover of Italian Pastas, Pizzas and Lasangas, then Casa Piccola is a place you must not miss. They have about several Branches around the city such as in Koramangala, Indiranagar, Cunningham road and Residency road. The one in Jayanagar 4th block has a beautiful ambience and overlooks the busy cool joint junction. They have service in three floors; you could pick a bean bag to relax and chat with your friends or a terrace garden to enjoy the fresh breeze and sizzlers, the choice is yours.

Chicken strips, Kababs, Sausages, Manchurians, Rolls, wedges and fries constitute a good Indian, Chinese and European starter menu. Coriander paneer starter is special, with grilled paneer cubes dressed with coriander sauce. For the non-veggies the favorites would be chicken stake.
If you are on diet, a good Russian, Greek, Italian or caser salad with or without meat is right on the menu for your pick.

However a personal favorite in Casa Picola has been Pasta. From Pasta Bolognaise with Italian meat to Indo italiana with mixed Vegetable and cheese, the noodles dressed with marinara sauce tastes brilliant. Puttanessca pasta with Penne noodles is a delicious treat; the spicy marinara sauce and mixed vegetables make a perfect meal.

Varieties of Pizzas and burgers are at your choice also; the pizzas taste close to authentic Italian style. However the restaurant has some specialties such as Chicken Parmigiana (Tender boneless chicken crumb fired with sauce), Casa mixed grill and for vegetarians Harvest Casserole (Vegetable sauce dressed with mashed Potatoes) or Risotto Arabbiate with vegetables dressed with ring of risotto (rice). The terrace serves sizzlers such as pepper chicken or vegetarian choices.

And if you end up deciding not to have any European dishes, you always have the option for Roti’s Naans and Indian delicacies to go with it.

Deserts section provides a choice of hot chocolate sundaes, cakes and mousses.

A bar menu consists of your choice or alcohol from wine, tequila to scotch or cocktails and if you want to settle with non-alcohol drink, then there is always mocktails, fruit punch or a milkshake to a beverage.
